Mr. & Mrs. Diaz

Est. 3.3.2012

I absolutely love Christmas! It is an entire holiday reminding us of the greatest gift we will ever receive!
"For God so loved the world that he gave his ONLY Son that whosoever believes in him should not perish,  but have enteral life! - John 3:16"
Unfortunately we get so caught up in everything else that the world throws at us, that we forget our focus and find ourselves pre-occupied with the food, gifts, and even the selfish emotions that the holidays may bring. Although I have tried to continually keep my focus on the real reason for the season, there have been points this holiday season where I found myself "caught up." I was too pre-occupied with how I did not want to deal with certain people and their dramas, what gifts I needed to give or had forgotten, and how I was not going to "celebrate" the holidays how I would have liked.  Thankfully it hit me early enough that I had again overlooked and forgotten the greatest gift, and that NOTHING mattered in comparison. I was able to enjoy my Christmas Eve and Day to the fullest extent, appreciating all that I have and the blessings that He continues to provide!

Friends as you continue to celebrate the rest of this year and go into 2013, make sure that your focus is on the real reason for not only the season but your entire life! Be sure to lead a life that is continually striving to refocus on Christ and His purpose for our lives! Don't get discouraged when you fail, because we all will... that is why we needed Him in the first place!

Before I go, here's a few pictures of my Christmas celebrations!

I baked so many goodies this year as Christmas gifts, since its the only gifts we could afford for our large families! I made pretzel hugs (Pinterest idea), Gingerbread Cookies, Sugar Cookies, and Cake Bon Bons!

I also made some Cinnamon Ornaments with my sister-in-law and her awesome kids. I had done them as a kid in elementary school and loved how they smelled and wanted to do them for my home. They are very simple to make, all that's needed is craft glue, cinnamon, and applesauce! Here's the website that I used for instructions - Cinnamon Ornaments

Besides making lovely cinnamon ornaments, you can also use them in other ways!

Then today I received an amazing Christmas gift from my wonderful husband, the long awaited KitchenAid stand alone mixer! Isn't he just the best?

This is the model and color of mine. After watching so many Barefoot Contessa and Alton Brown shows I was looking forward to getting one of my own!

Merry Christmas friends and family! May God continue to bless you and keep you all!

This is going to be our First Christmas as the Diaz family and I am so excited! I have started setting a few traditions that I look forward to keeping. One of the first traditions that we are establishing for our newly formed family, and one that will be that much more exciting when we have children is our ornaments.

Like I mentioned in a prior post, my love and I have bought an ornament at every place we have traveled to during our first year married. We also have ornaments for every year since we started dating with our picture from that Christmas. Our newly acquired collection, also features ornaments of things we love, and those given to us by family and friends that represent us.

I found an amazing idea on Pinterest, which I intend on trying, which is to create a book of the ornaments and their importance to our family. So our future children will know who gave it to us or why its so important just in case our memories fail us! I am really excited to share some of our ornaments with you and Ill post a picture of our finished tree!

Our First Christmas Tree!

- Mrs. Diaz

Christmas time seems to be the most chaotic but exciting time of the year! December goes by in a flash but it always seems to be the month with the most memories. This has definitely been true for me this year. I have been nonstop since finishing my exams on December 7th. My most exciting event so far has been the arrival of max to our apartment, I had told my parents that we would take my little baby for the Christmas break since I no longer had school. He is such a joy to have around, although like any dog, he's a lot of work!

He seems to be adapting to apartment living, although I have not adapted to taking him for walks practically every hour when I live on the third floor without an elevator. Besides that, we have been enjoying his little visit, my husband even taught him to "die" when he says "bang!" What a cutie! Here's my baby getting in the Christmas spirit!

p.s. I hope to post a few more times now in the holiday break but I cannot guarantee when with how busy these days tend to be.
