Mr. & Mrs. Diaz

Est. 3.3.2012

Although I have been absent for months (sorry!).... Im back with FREEBIES! Unfortunately I am not the one giving them out, but I'll show you how to get them. Today Im focusing on one of my favorite freebies of all time,
 MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTIONS!

I have always enjoyed reading and looking through magazines, I have even paid (ugh!) for a few subscriptions myself. However, thankfully I discovered one of my favorite Freebie sources... www.freebieshark.com

The wonderful owner of freebieshark.com will not only update you on the best deals and freebies out there, BUT he will also tell you what subscriptions are being given out for FREE!

I have already subscribed to all my favorite magazines (Better homes & garden, Vogue, Martha Stewart Living, and Elle) and even some fun ones I would NEVER pay money for! Typically the websites ask you for some basic information and to fill out a survey. The surveys are usually short and deal with consumer goods (nail polish, cars, shoes, etc.) once you're done you should get your first magazine in 6-8 weeks!

Now, I know what's going through your head right now..."what's the catch?"
I honestly haven't found one yet! However, I always read the fine print, even if I have read it before and you should too. Please don't get upset if it doesn't work... Freebies are NEVER guaranteed.

Another great tip is to create a "junk" or freebie dedicated email. Use this extra email for any freebies or contests you enter. (Just make sure you check it just in case you win!) This way you can send all junk email to this email without overloading your daily inbox.

BUT one thing I will warn is that I NEVER and you SHOULD NEVER put your credit card when you request any freebie! If its REALLY free, then a credit card is not required. (Oh and please, please, please... don't put personal information like your social!)

If you need any help...
Just feel free to ask :)

toodles!

-Mrs. Diaz

As I explained in my last post, I became a member of Influenster. This is a website that gives away complimentary boxes of products to test and review from brands we know and love. You don't always qualify but when you do the boxes are absolutely fabulous!

My first box was the Palmolive voxbox.  If you would like to see this box, click here!

This post is on the Paradise Voxbox!

This box contains:
- Olay "Fresh Effects - shine shine go away!" Facial Cleanser (Retail Value $6.99)
- Dr. Scholl's for Her High Heel Insoles (Retail Value $10.99)
- Goody "Tanglefix" hair brush (Retail Value $7.99 - $8.99)
- NYC sparkle eye dust eyeshadow in Smokey Topaz (Retail Value $2.99)
- Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Styling Oil (Retail Value $5.98)

#1 - The Olay Fresh Effects

I really enjoyed this cleanser.  I had been using another face wash for quite a while, and I think I have found my new everyday. It smells very nice and it's consistency is like a cream. It rinsed off easily and did not dry out my face.  My skin felt very refreshed almost like after a face mask.

I am considering purchasing more from this line, but the other products don't seem necessary for my skin type. Check this cleanser and the rest of the products out here! www.olayfresheffects.com

#2 - NYC New York Color Sparkle Eye Dust

I received the Smokey Topaz color. Although I loved the color and it was very very shimmery, I felt that it was not as pigmented or  as I would have liked. It was a nice powder and easy to apply. I did not use the applicator, because I prefer brushes, but in a rush it is likely very useful.
If you want to check out the other colors they carry, here's the link. http://bit.ly/1bhzSaW

#3 - Dr. Scholl's for her High Heel Insoles

So I am very excited about these babies! These new insoles are helping me bring out some extreme heels that I do not usually wear as often.  Like these loves:

The insoles themselves are very comfortable, although they are something you have to get used to. I would buy more, but because of the pricing I may have to wait for some sales/coupons. But overall absolutely fantastic!

#4 - Goody TangleFix

This brush is great, it has become my "go-to" brush when I need to detangle. I still use my leave-in conditioner, but I really don't even need it! The only negative is that it is not a handle brush and I tend to find no-handle brushes uncomfortable. Either way it's a great detangler.

#5 - Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Styling Oil

Being completely honest, this is not a favorite of mine. The product definitely works BUT I just don't find myself reaching for it. It left my hair soft, shiny and fly-away free. I just felt that it's not a must, and not a daily or weekly product. Just not worth it for me. It may be better for those with less manageable or damaged hair.

My wonderful readers,

I am so terribly horrible about posting with frequency. Unfortunately my life gets somewhat chaotic very often. But I promise I will always come back!

I am so excited to tell you about a few little things that have happened since I last blogged.

1. Palmolive Voxbox

I absolutely love good deals and free stuff! Who doesn't right? Well I found  this website called influenster. With this site, you register your blog and social networking accounts and then you wait to see if you qualify for any of their voxboxes. The voxboxes range in themes and sizes, but they are filled with products for you to try!

I qualified this year for the Palmolive Voxbox! Here's what it contained:

Cool right?!? So all I had to do was use the products, fill out surveys, and post my box and reviews on my social networking sites!
(By the way I absolutely love this dish soap, especially the Shea butter one!)

I received another complimentary box, the Paradise Voxbox, expect a post about it soon!

2. Julep #2 & 3

So I did not plan on getting two Julep boxes but I forgot to cancel one.  Luckily they were both wonderful!

I have a prior post on JULEP, a subscription service for nail polish and beauty supplies. To see my past post, click HERE!

The First Julep box was sort of an old hollywood theme. I ordered the "boho glam" box.

These adorable hairpins were included in the box as a surprise! I don't know if I would use them, but it's a nice touch.

I thought the lipsticks would be full sized, but they were actually really mini. I thought that the colors were great, but the size was definitely disappointing. The red is the only lipstick that is brightly pigmented, the other two are sheer tones.

I really liked the polish colors, but I felt they were a little dark for a the season I received them in.

The next box was a Cali themed box for the summer season. I really did not want to spend money on a box, but unfortunately I forgot to skip the month.

I ended up loving the polish colors! I  used them several times this summer and hope to sneak them in a few more times throughout the year.

The box also included a beach tonic (dry body oil), it looks like a great product, and feels nice. I do not know how often ill use it, but it seems like something that may become useful.

I hope to post some more soon!

Before my husband and I left on our honeymoon cruise, I had found an iphone app called Postgram. Postgram sends a real postcard with your chosen picture and message to your recipient through the regular post.  I thought it was an adorable concept and decided to use it before we set sail. I knew we wouldn't have service, so I figured it would be nice if our families received a message from us when we were out at sea. We took a picture when we boarded the ship and had the postgram delivered.  My husband and I  figured it would take them at least 3 days to recieve the postcard and we would already be out at sea, a nice message from the newlyweds to the families.

Postgram has now expanded, and you can now create and send postcards not only through your phone, but through facebook and the computer as well. I recently tried the facebook app and sent two postcards to my husband (they give you two for free if you join through here: Postgram-Facebook).

Here is what they look like:

Aren't they adorable?
The best part is that they are a nice thick shiny card stock, and they perforate the picture so you can keep the picture without the excess of the postcard. They even print your message on the back of the postcard so you don't feel bad for throwing out the rest.

I cannot wait to send some more. Maybe I'll send you a Postgram!

So a few weeks ago, I looked in my fridge and realized that I only had a few days to use a small carton of Heavy Whipping cream.  I wasn't sure what to make and I did not want to go out and buy more ingredients. I searched the wonderful web and decided to make Butter & Truffles!

The first thing I made was the truffles.

I found the recipe on this lovely blog called Sugar and Spice.
Her pictures are gorgeous and the recipe is very simple to make, here's how my process looked.

I used Ghirardelli for both the chips and the unsweetened powdered cocoa. I tend to love dark chocolate truffles, so the morsels I used were double chocolate bittersweet chips. I was worried my husband and others wouldn't enjoy the bitter chocolate but everyone who has tried them has LOVED them! They are actually quite addicting so make sure you share, thankfully I had a few friends and family gobbling them up.

NOW for my BUTTER!

I was actually excited to try the recipe because I could not believe making butter would be so simple, but here it is! I found the recipe on 52 kitchen adventures.
Here's how I "churned" my butter!

(There were several steps in between, so please go to the instructions on the other blog)

My Butter was a success! It was absolutely delicious. It was even better than store bought butter.
Well I hope you enjoyed my little cooking adventure, I know I did!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

I am so excited to tell you about a new subscription program that I recently joined. Although I do not know whether or not I will be ordering all the monthly boxes, I will definitely keep buying those that catch my eye. The program I am referring to is Julep.

Julep sells beauty products that are fabulous, and they also have the Maven program with unique boxes each month. I love the fact that proceeds of every nail color goes to organizations that empower women. (Isn't that nice?)

I was a little hesitant at first but when I found a promo code that allowed me to receive my 1st box free, it was hard to turn down. (except for shipping, $5.00) Before you select the box you want, they give you a style quiz which determines the type of boxes they will recommend each month. Don't worry though, after the quiz I changed my style from the one they had chosen for me.

So here's what happened after I ordered my  "Classic with a twist" intro box. I expected it to take about a week but it actually arrived in 2 days! The box and presentation was adorable, here are some pictures:

The intro box I chose included two nail colors (Maya & Molly), a black mascara and a sample of their foot scrub. I haven't tried all of the products yet, but I did use the Molly nail color. (I would post a picture but Im not that great at manicures to be posting my work)  I actually thought I was a very pretty pearly pink and the thickness of the polish was great.

I dont know if these subscriptions are for you but if you're like me always curious about these programs, this one's not too bad. The only word of warning I have is that if you do not want to deal with declining boxes once a month (so you are not charged) then maybe this is not the best thing for you to try. If you're not sure then try the first box, if you realize you do not like it call and cancel your membership.

Here's how you can get you're own free box (not really free need to pay shipping!):
go to Julep  & at checkout use the code FREEBOX
(Click the button below to start your Quiz!)

Enjoy loves!

Although I have intended to blog as consistently as possible, life has had other plans! Its been at least 4 months since my last post and in these few months my life has changed drastically. There have been major changes, and the greatest would have to be my husband and I purchased a HOME. We are beyond excited. It all happened very quickly but definitely a blessing.

A new home has been a lot of work but also a lot of fun. It has been difficult transitioning from only having to maintain an apartment to now maintaining a home and landscaping but it is so worth it! Don't get me wrong, our first apartment was wonderful for our 1st place but when you're renting it never really feels like your OWN! Now we can finally decorate and personalize our home (when we have the money of course!) without the overshadowing feeling of eventually having to bring it back to how it was. I hope to be posting about the changes we make and the touches we put, so you can be a part of this exciting time for us!

Another wonderful thing that has occurred during my time away has been our 1-year wedding anniversary! I am so excited to have this wonderful man as my husband and this year has just been splendid. I will not say that being married is easy, because I don't think it ever will be but we have been blessed enough to have had a wonderful year.

I am very excited to show you my home and updating you on all the wonderful things that I know will happen this year.
